The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has entered into a contract to purchase a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier. The vessel boasts a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of approximately 81,609 tons and was constructed in 2019. The agreement for this acquisition was finalized on September 8, 2026.
Strategic Acquisition Details
This strategic move aims to further expand GE Shipping’s existing fleet. The newly acquired vessel is anticipated to be integrated into the company’s operations during the third quarter of the Financial Year 2027 (Q3 FY27). Notably, the entire funding for this acquisition will be sourced from the company’s internal accruals, underscoring its sound financial management.
Fleet Overview and Future Plans
GE Shipping currently operates a robust fleet of 40 vessels. This includes 25 Tankers and 15 Dry Bulk Carriers, aggregating 3.24 million dwt. The company also confirmed that it has contracted to acquire one additional secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier, with this transaction also slated for completion in Q3 FY27. The company’s current capacity utilization is reported to be close to 100%.
