Torrent Power: Commissions 322 MW Solar Projects in Maharashtra

Torrent Green Energy, a subsidiary of Torrent Power, has successfully commissioned 322 MWp of decentralized solar power projects across Nashik district, Maharashtra. These projects, developed under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, aim to provide daytime electricity to farmers and enhance grid efficiency. Power will be supplied to MSEDCL under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Torrent Power Commissions Landmark Solar Projects

Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power Limited, announced on September 8, 2026, the successful commissioning of 322 MWp of ground-mounted decentralized solar power projects. These projects are located across the Nashik district in Maharashtra and are part of the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0, a scheme focused on feeder-level solarization under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme.

Extensive Agricultural Solarization

The solar portfolio, developed across 50 locations spanning 14 talukas in Nashik, represents one of the most extensive and geographically diverse agricultural feeder solarization projects implemented under the MSKVY framework. Power generated from these projects will be supplied to MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) under a long-term 25-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Impact on Farmers and Grid

Aligned with India’s goals for agricultural solarization and energy self-reliance, these projects are designed to bring clean energy generation closer to agricultural demand centers. The local solar plants will ensure daytime electricity for farmers, leading to enhanced grid efficiency, reduced distribution losses, and support for sustainable agriculture. The project’s successful execution involved coordinated development across multiple locations, addressing land issues, grid connectivity, and local clearances.

Company Vision and Commitment

Jigish Mehta, Whole-Time Director of Torrent Power Ltd., stated, “The project stands as a testimony to the collaborative efforts of MSEDCL, local administration, landowners, project partners, contractors, and the dedicated team of Torrent. This milestone reinforces Torrent’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy transition while empowering the agricultural sector with reliable and sustainable daytime electricity supply.”
