POWERGRID has been declared the successful bidder for the Inter-State Transmission System project in Gujarat. The project, named “Transmission system for Integration of Power from RE Projects in Lakadia REZ in Gujarat-Phase II (7500MW)”, will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The annual transmission charges are quoted at Rs. 1,152.49 Crore. The scope includes establishing a new 765/400kV sub-station and associated transmission lines and equipment in Gujarat.
Major Transmission Project Secured
POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited has been announced as the successful bidder for a critical Inter-State Transmission System project. This project is designated for the integration of power from Renewable Energy (RE) Projects in the Lakadia REZ (Renewable Energy Zone) in Gujarat, specifically Phase II, with a capacity of 7500MW.

The project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. POWERGRID has quoted annual transmission charges of Rs. 1,152.49 Crore for this undertaking. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for this project on September 3, 2026.
Infrastructure Development in Gujarat
The project’s scope includes the establishment of a new 765/400kV Lakadia-II Sub-station within the state of Gujarat. Furthermore, it involves the construction of 765kV transmission lines that will traverse the state, along with the necessary associated equipment and bays. The project also encompasses the installation and commissioning of a Synchronous condenser at the Lakadia-II Sub-station, enhancing grid stability and reliability.
