Ola Electric: Launches S1Z Scooter with Indigenous LFP Technology

Ola Electric has launched its new electric scooter, the S1Z, featuring its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology. Available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants, the S1Z is priced attractively at introductory rates of ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) respectively. This launch aims to bring advanced battery technology to the mass market, with ranges of up to 179 km and 301 km (IDC).

Ola Electric Unveils S1Z Scooter

Ola Electric has officially announced the launch of its all-new electric scooter, the S1Z, on August 28, 2026. This new model marks a significant step in bringing the company’s proprietary Bharat Cell LFP technology to the Indian mass market. The S1Z is built upon Ola’s 46 series LFP cell platform, developed at its Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory, targeting the largest segment of EV buyers in the country.

Pricing and Variants

The S1Z will be offered in two battery variants: a 3.1 kWh model and a 5.1 kWh model. The introductory pricing is set at ₹79,999 for the 3.1 kWh variant and ₹99,999 for the 5.1 kWh variant, both prices being ex-showroom. These competitive price points aim to make advanced EV technology more accessible to consumers.

Range and Technology

The 3.1 kWh variant of the S1Z is expected to deliver a range of up to 179 kilometers (IDC), while the 5.1 kWh variant boasts an impressive range of up to 301 kilometers (IDC). The scooter utilizes Ola’s vertically integrated EV ecosystem, allowing for lower battery costs and making next-generation battery technology affordable. The S1Z is powered by MoveOS 5, incorporating features such as cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, and reverse mode.

Market Strategy and Deliveries

Ola Electric aims to redefine expectations for accessible electric scooters by emphasizing technology, safety, and performance. The company believes its in-house development and manufacturing of LFP technology significantly reduces battery costs, making safer and longer-lasting battery technology available without compromising affordability. Deliveries for the 3.1 kWh variant are scheduled to commence in December 2026, with the 5.1 kWh variant deliveries beginning in March 2027. The S1Z will be available in four colours: White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue, and Matcha Green.

Expansion and Accessibility

The S1Z will also be the first product range to be rolled out through Ola Electric’s next phase of retail expansion, utilizing dealer-operated stores alongside its company-owned retail network. This strategy is designed to significantly enhance the accessibility of Ola products across India.
