Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL), a prominent player in India’s energy sector, announced on August 26, 2026, that it has won a significant transmission project in Maharashtra. The project is valued at an estimated ₹4,700 crore and aims to facilitate the evacuation of 4,500 MW of renewable energy, particularly from pumped storage facilities. This strategic win is expected to bolster the company’s order book and strengthen its transmission network.
Project Details and Impact
The project, designated as “Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) – Part A”, was acquired through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, where AESL emerged as the lowest bidder. This initiative is critical for integrating large-scale renewable energy into the grid, enhancing grid stability, and supporting India’s decarbonisation targets. The project will involve establishing a 765/400 kV substation at Satara and a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Kolhapur and Satara, along with augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station.
Strengthening Transmission Infrastructure
Upon completion, the project will add 562 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s existing portfolio. This will elevate AESL’s cumulative transmission network to 29,739 ckm and 1,43,425 MVA of transformation capacity.
