APL Apollo Tubes Limited has informed stakeholders about a favourable outcome regarding a Goods and Services Tax (GST) demand order. Originally, the Commercial Tax Officer, Hosur, had issued a demand for ₹3,14,81,140, comprising tax, interest, and penalty for the Financial Year 2019-20. This initial order was communicated on August 31, 2024.
Appellate Authority Grants Relief
Following an appeal filed by the company, the Deputy Commissioner (Appeals), Hosur, has issued a revised order on August 21, 2026. This order significantly reduces the original GST demand. The total demand originally stood at ₹3,14,81,140. After the appellate decision, an amount of ₹3,13,79,274 has been set aside, leaving a substantially reduced balance demand of ₹1,01,866.
Details of the Revised Demand
The authority issuing the revised order is the Deputy Commissioner (Appeals), Hosur. The action taken is an intimation of the revised demand under Section 73 of the TNGST Act, 2017, for the Financial Year 2019-20. The company confirms that this development does not have a material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities. APL Apollo Tubes is currently examining the order to decide on the appropriate course of action.
