Castrol India has announced that Mr. Kedar Lele will resign as Managing Director, effective close of business on December 31, 2025. Mr. Saugata Basuray has been appointed as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026. Basuray will also continue his role as Wholetime Director & Head B2C Sales.
Leadership Transition
Castrol India has announced a change in its leadership. Mr. Kedar Lele will be stepping down from his position as Managing Director of the company, with his resignation taking effect at the close of business on December 31, 2025.
Appointment of Interim CEO
The Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Saugata Basuray as the Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026. This appointment will remain in effect until a permanent Managing Director is appointed.
In addition to his new responsibilities as Interim CEO, Mr. Basuray will continue to serve in his current capacity as Wholetime Director & Head of B2C Sales. His title will be re-designated as ‘Wholetime Director & Interim CEO’ from January 1, 2026.
Mr. Saugata Basuray’s Profile
Mr. Saugata Basuray brings over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing, and business leadership to the role. He joined Castrol India in 1999 and has since held various positions, including roles at Castrol’s global headquarters in the UK and leadership positions in the Philippines and Indonesia.
Currently, Mr. Basuray leads the B2C business segment at Castrol India, where he has been instrumental in driving a multi-year transformation of the company’s go-to-market model and expanding its distribution network. He holds an Engineering degree from the University of Pune.
