Mr. Giridhar’s nomination comes from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), a significant promoter of Axis Bank, replacing the earlier nominee, Mini Ipe.
Director Profile and Experience
K. S. Giridhar, aged 60, is currently the Executive Director (P & GS) of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). He possesses over 35 years of experience within LIC, contributing to transformative initiatives in Group Business, Investments, Technology, Governance, and Pension Solutions. His expertise spans managing large institutional businesses, investment portfolios, and regulatory frameworks. Currently, he leads LIC’s Group Business, overseeing assets under management exceeding ₹14 trillion and participating in several enterprise-level governance and strategic committees. His previous roles at LIC include Executive Director – Investments (Monitoring & IT) and Head – Group Business Marketing Operations. Mr. Giridhar holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. The bank has confirmed that Mr. Giridhar is not debarred from holding directorships by any regulatory authority.
Appointment Details
The appointment is subject to the approval of Axis Bank’s shareholders. Mr. Giridhar is liable to retire by rotation and will hold office in accordance with applicable laws or until his nomination is withdrawn by LIC, whichever occurs earlier. He is not related to any other directors or key managerial personnel of the Bank.
