Gland Pharma Limited today announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Mr. Deepak Sapra as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This decision was formalized by the Board of Directors following a recommendation from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Mr. Sapra is set to join the company and assume his new role effective November 16, 2026.
Experienced Leadership
Mr. Sapra is a seasoned business leader with over 27 years of executive experience, including more than 23 years dedicated to the pharmaceutical sector. Currently, he holds the position of Chief Executive Officer – API and Services at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited and also serves on the Board of Aurigene Pharma Services. His current responsibilities encompass global portfolio strategy and leading an integrated B2B business spanning generic pharmaceuticals, CDMO services, APIs, and more. His experience covers key markets worldwide, including the United States, European Union, Japan, Brazil, China, Mexico, the Middle East, and Africa.
He has a proven track record in driving revenue growth, market expansion, business development, licensing, M&A, and portfolio creation across diverse geographies. His expertise extends across the entire pharmaceutical value chain, including CDMO partnerships, generics, APIs, sales and marketing, international business management, supply chain management, R&D, operations, and portfolio strategy.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Sapra served as Chief Executive Officer – Custom Pharmaceutical Services, leading a global CDMO business. He also held senior leadership positions at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories as Vice President – Global Generics Business Development and Senior Director – Global Generics Portfolio Management between 2011 and 2015.
Educational Background
Academically, Mr. Deepak Sapra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur. He further enhanced his qualifications with a Master’s degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship from the University of Bradford, UK, and was a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.
