Bank of India: Appoints Raj Kumar Sharma as Non-Official Director

Bank of India has announced the appointment of Shri Raj Kumar Sharma as a Part-time Non-Official Director on its Board. This appointment, effective from 12.08.2026, is for a term of three years. Mr. Sharma brings extensive experience in Company Law and taxation, having served as a Practising Company Secretary since 1997 and holding various leadership roles within professional bodies. He has no existing relationship with the bank’s current directors.

Board Appointment Strengthens Governance

In a significant move impacting its board composition, Bank of India has appointed Shri Raj Kumar Sharma as a Part-time Non-Official Director. This appointment is effective from 12.08.2026 and is set for a tenure of three years, or until further orders are issued. The nomination was made by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred under the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970.

Director’s Profile and Expertise

Shri Raj Kumar Sharma, aged 59, holds a Law degree and a B.Com (Management) from Guwahati Commerce College. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (FCS) and has been a Practising Company Secretary since 1997, possessing extensive experience in Company Law and related matters. His professional background includes serving as Chairman of the North-East Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and as Secretary of the Tax Bar Association, Assam. He is also actively involved with the Marwari Yuva Manch.

Independence and Non-Relation Statement

The bank has explicitly stated that Shri Raj Kumar Sharma does not have any relationship with any of the existing Directors of the Bank, ensuring independent oversight and governance at the board level.
