LIC: Q1 FY27 Profit Jumps 22.8% to ₹13,492 Crore, AUM Rises 4.1%

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) announced robust financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, with profit after tax surging 22.81% to ₹13,492 crore. Assets Under Management (AUM) also saw a healthy increase of 4.1%, reaching ₹59,39,384.39 crore. The Net Value of New Business (VNB) margin significantly improved to 22.9%, marking a strong start to the fiscal year.

Strong Financial Performance in Q1 FY27

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has reported a significant increase in its financial performance for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026. The profit after tax for the quarter stood at ₹13,492 crore, marking a substantial growth of 22.81% compared to the ₹10,986 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

  • Profit After Tax: Increased by 22.81% year-on-year to ₹13,492 crore for Q1 FY27.
  • Net VNB Margin: Improved significantly by 750 basis points to 22.9% in Q1 FY27, up from 15.4% in Q1 FY26.
  • Net VNB Growth: Registered a growth of 61.32% year-on-year, reaching ₹3,136 crore in Q1 FY27.
  • Assets Under Management (AUM): Grew by 4.1% year-on-year to ₹59,39,384.39 crore as of June 30, 2026.
  • Annualised Premium Equivalent (APE): Total APE grew by 8.22% to ₹13,692 crore in Q1 FY27.

Business Segment Performance

The company also highlighted strong growth in its individual new business premium income, which grew by 14.48% to ₹14,351 crore for the quarter. The overall market share by first year premium income for the quarter ending June 30, ’26 stood at 60.10%.

Further, the non-par share of individual APE grew to 32.49% for the quarter ended 30th June ’26, compared to 30.34% in the same period last year. Bancassurance and alternate channels also showed a growth of 5.25%, contributing ₹907.14 crore.

Solvency Ratio

The solvency ratio as of June 30, 2026, improved to 2.42%, up from 2.17% at the end of the first quarter of the previous year.

Product Launches and Agent Network

LIC launched two new products in April 2026: LIC’s New Jeevan Sathi single premium and LIC’s New Jeevan Sathi limited premium. The total number of agents as of June 30, 2026, was 14,45,692, showing a decrease of 2.73% year-on-year. The market share by the number of agents was 43.69%.

Digital Initiatives

The company continues to focus on digital initiatives, with its agent-assisted Ananda application completing 436,925 policies in Q1 FY27, a growth of 25.56%. The launch of MyLIC and Super Sales Saathi mobile applications in April 2026 aims to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
