Whirlpool of India Reports Record Q1 FY27 Revenue Growth

Whirlpool of India Limited has announced a significant financial performance for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27), reporting a record revenue growth of 11.4%. This marks the highest-ever revenue for the quarter in the company’s history. The growth was driven by multiple factors, including mid-single-digit volume growth in the industry for refrigerators and washers, an increase in market share, and the successful premiumization strategy, particularly in the front load washing machine and air conditioner segments.

Business Overview and Strategic Imperatives

During the earnings call on August 06, 2026, Managing Director Mr. Narasimhan Eswar detailed the company’s business overview and strategic imperatives. Key highlights included a double-digit revenue growth and continued market share gains across categories. The company aims to ‘inspire generations through its brands,’ ‘win with product leadership,’ build a ‘competitive and resilient supply chain,’ and achieve ‘excellence in execution.’ A significant focus was placed on product innovation, with the introduction of the Whirlpool Luxuriem four-door premium refrigerator, featuring India’s fastest convertible technology and a unique IntelliCrisper with AI-based ethylene gas detection. Other product innovations include the large-size Bloomwash top load washing machine and advancements in semi-automatic washing machines with Dynamix dispenser technology.

Financial Performance and Challenges

The company’s financial performance for Q1 FY27 showed an EBITDA of INR 120 crores at 4.6%, with margins experiencing a squeeze of 377 basis points. Profit before tax stood at INR 120 crores, with a profit margin squeeze of approximately 320 basis points year-on-year. This was attributed to unprecedented cost increases stemming from geopolitical instability, the Middle East war impacting crude oil prices, and currency depreciation. Despite these challenges, the company managed to mitigate some effects through price increases and a continued focus on its P4G (Productivity, People, Planet, Profit) program to drive cost efficiency.

Market Position and Future Outlook

Whirlpool of India maintained its number two position in refrigerators and washers in the multi-brand outlet market share and holds the number one position in direct cool refrigerators. The company also saw strong growth in its air conditioner business (50% growth) and front load washers (80% volume growth). Looking ahead, the company emphasized a strategy of ‘responsible growth,’ aiming to premiumize its offerings and de-commoditize categories by adding value to consumers, rather than solely focusing on price competition. The outlook for the coming quarters remains challenging due to ongoing cost pressures and market dynamics, but the company is focused on navigating these headwinds while strengthening its market position and profitability.
