Cummins India: Q1 FY27 Sales Jump 18% to ₹3,375 Crores

Domestic sales saw a significant 22% rise. Profit before tax before exceptional items marginally decreased by 0.7% to ₹721 crores. The company highlighted strong demand in key end markets, particularly in power generation and industrial segments, while managing challenges like commodity costs and inflation.

Cummins India Reports Robust Q1 FY27 Performance

Cummins India Limited has announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27, ending June 30, 2026. The company reported a substantial 18% year-on-year increase in total sales, reaching ₹3,375 crores, compared to ₹2,859 crores in the same quarter of the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by a strong performance in the domestic market.

Domestic Market Strength

Domestic sales for the quarter stood at ₹2,854 crores, marking a significant 22% increase year-on-year. Exports, however, remained flat at ₹521 crores. The company attributed the strong overall performance to solid demand across key end markets and effective order execution, reflecting robust customer relationships.

Profitability and Market Dynamics

Profit before tax before exceptional items for the quarter was ₹721 crores, a marginal decrease of 0.7% compared to the previous year. This was influenced by higher commodity costs and inflation, which remain key factors impacting margins. Sequentially, sales increased by 14% from the previous quarter.

Segmental Performance

In terms of segmental performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2026:

  • Power Generation (Domestic): Sales were ₹1,424 crores, a 35% increase year-on-year.
  • Distribution Business: Sales reached ₹886 crores, up 14% year-on-year.
  • Industrial Domestic Business: Sales were ₹458 crores, an 10% increase year-on-year.
  • High-Horsepower Exports: Sales stood at ₹296 crores, a 16% increase year-on-year.
  • Low Horsepower Exports: Sales were ₹180 crores, a 20% decrease year-on-year.

The company acknowledged the impact of commodity inflation and supply chain challenges but stated its efforts in price increases and cost management to mitigate these factors.
