JSW Energy: Adds 1,166 MW Renewable, 300 MW Thermal Capacity

JSW Energy has announced a substantial capacity addition, incorporating 1,166 MW of renewable energy and 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity since April 2026. This expansion brings the company’s total installed operational capacity to 14,920 MW. The achievement reflects JSW Energy’s strategic growth and commitment to scaling clean energy alongside a robust thermal base, positioning it well for future targets.

Significant Capacity Expansion Announced

JSW Energy Limited has reported a notable increase in its operational capacity, having successfully added 1,166 MW of renewable energy and 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity since April 2026. This development elevates the company’s total installed operational capacity to 14,920 MW. This expansion marks a significant milestone in JSW Energy’s strategic objective to enhance its energy generation portfolio.

Renewable Energy Dominance and Thermal Strength

With this latest addition, renewable energy now constitutes 60% of JSW Energy’s total installed capacity. The renewable segment comprises 3,125 MW of wind, 2,360 MW of solar, 1,696 MW of hybrid power, and 1,781 MW of hydro capacity. The thermal portfolio stands at 5,958 MW, contributing to the overall installed capacity of 14,920 MW. This dual strategy of scaling clean energy while maintaining a strong thermal base supports grid reliability and energy security.

Future Outlook and Targets

JSW Energy is on track to achieve its greenfield capacity addition target of 3 GW for FY2027. The company has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, with 14.9 GW currently operational and 13.5 GW under construction across various segments. Looking ahead, JSW Energy aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, with a vision for carbon neutrality by 2050.
