The vessel, built in 2015 and with a capacity of approximately 81,886 dwt, was contracted on August 7, 2026. The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has entered into a contract to acquire a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier. The vessel, built in 2015, has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of approximately 81,886 tonnes. The agreement for this acquisition was finalized on August 7, 2026.
Future Fleet Integration and Financing
This newly acquired Kamsarmax Dry Bulk carrier is projected to join GE Shipping’s existing fleet in the third quarter of the financial year 2027 (Q3 FY27). The company plans to finance this expansion entirely through its internal accruals, demonstrating a prudent approach to capital management. The acquisition signifies a strategic move towards enhancing the company’s operational capacity and market presence in the dry bulk segment.
Current Fleet Strength
As of the announcement, GE Shipping operates a robust fleet of 40 vessels. This comprises 25 Tankers (including 5 Crude Tankers, 16 Product Tankers, and 4 LPG Carriers) and 15 Dry Bulk Carriers. The dry bulk fleet includes 2 Capesize, 10 Kamsarmax, 1 Ultramax, and 2 Supramax vessels, aggregating 3.24 million dwt. The company also noted that its current capacity utilization is close to 100%, underscoring the need for fleet expansion.
