Hindalco Industries Limited, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1 FY27), ended June 30, 2026. The company delivered its strongest-ever performance, achieving new highs in Revenue, EBITDA, and Profit After Tax (PAT).
Key Financial Highlights for Q1 FY27:
- Consolidated Revenue: Recorded at ₹84,825 crore, marking a significant 32% increase year-on-year.
- Consolidated EBITDA: Reached an all-time high of ₹14,989 crore, up 73% compared to the previous year.
- Consolidated PAT: Surged by 75% to ₹7,013 crore, up from ₹4,004 crore in the same quarter last year.
Performance Drivers
The impressive financial results were driven by strong momentum in Hindalco’s India business and a significant recovery in its Novelis operations. All business segments, including Aluminium Upstream, Aluminium Downstream, Copper, and Novelis, reported their highest-ever quarterly EBITDA. Favorable macro tailwinds, strategic focus on resource security, premium product innovation, and operational excellence were key contributors to this milestone performance.
Novelis’ Recovery
Novelis, Hindalco’s global subsidiary, recorded a 37% improvement in EBITDA. This growth was buoyed by the successful restart of its Oswego hot mill and accelerated benefits from its cost optimization program. Novelis’ Adjusted EBITDA stood at $4,875 million.
Segment Performance
Aluminium (India) Business:
- Upstream: Reported record quarterly EBITDA of ₹7,390 crore, up 81%, driven by favorable macros and operational efficiencies. Revenue grew by 44% to ₹13,403 crore.
- Downstream: Achieved an all-time high quarterly EBITDA of ₹298 crore, up 30%, supported by a favorable product mix and higher shipments. Revenue increased by 46% to ₹4,889 crore.
Copper (India) Business:
- Reported a record quarterly EBITDA of ₹918 crore, up 36%, despite planned smelter maintenance. Revenue stood at ₹17,232 crore, up 16%.
Sustainability Initiatives
Hindalco also highlighted its ongoing sustainability efforts, including the operationalization of a 65 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project, achieving 80% overall waste utilization, and increasing water recycling rates. The company was also recognized as the World’s Most Sustainable Aluminium Company by S&P Global CSA for the sixth consecutive year.
Guidance and Outlook
The company provided guidance and updates on its key projects, including the ongoing commissioning of the 600 Kt Bay Minette facility, expected to commence shipments in Q1 FY28. Hindalco reiterated its long-term EBITDA guidance of $600+/ton.
