Carborundum Universal (CUMI) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY2026-27, ending June 30, 2026. Consolidated sales reached ₹1411 Crores, marking a significant 16.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The company also reported a consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) of ₹76 Crores, representing a 23.4% growth over Q1 FY26. Standalone sales also saw a healthy increase of 21.2%.
Carborundum Universal Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Performance
Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) has released its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), showcasing robust growth across its operations.
Consolidated Financial Highlights
On a consolidated basis, CUMI achieved total sales of ₹1411 Crores for Q1 FY27. This represents a substantial 16.9% growth compared to the ₹1207 Crores reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q1 FY26). The Abrasives segment demonstrated strong performance with a 20.1% growth in consolidated sales, while Ceramics and Electrominerals segments grew by 16.5% and 16.8% respectively.
The consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) and non-controlling interest for the quarter stood at ₹76 Crores. This indicates a healthy 23.4% increase from the ₹62 Crores reported in Q1 FY26. At the consolidated level, capital expenditure incurred during the quarter was ₹54 Crores, and the debt equity ratio was maintained at a low 0.05.
Standalone Financial Performance
The standalone revenue also experienced significant expansion, with sales reaching ₹846 Crores in Q1 FY27, a 21.2% increase from ₹698 Crores in Q1 FY26. The Electrominerals segment led the growth on a standalone basis with a 33.0% increase, followed by Abrasives and Ceramics at 14.7% and 15.2% respectively.
Standalone PAT for Q1 FY27 was reported at ₹88 Crores. This figure, excluding a one-time dividend of ₹68 Crores received from a subsidiary in Q1 FY26, shows a positive operational performance trend.
Segmental Performance Insights
Abrasives Segment
Consolidated sales in the Abrasives segment increased by 20.1% to ₹610 Crores in Q1 FY27 compared to Q1 FY26. Standalone sales for the quarter were ₹328 Crores, an increase of 14.7% year-on-year. Consolidated profits before finance costs and tax rose significantly to ₹40 Crores in Q1 FY27, compared to ₹11 Crores in Q1 FY26.
Electro Minerals Segment
The Electro Minerals segment recorded consolidated sales of ₹473 Crores, up 16.8% from Q1 FY26. Standalone sales in this segment grew by 33.0% to ₹282 Crores. Consolidated profit before finance cost and tax stood at ₹22 Crores, a substantial increase from ₹4 Crores in the prior year’s quarter.
Ceramics Segment
Consolidated sales for the Ceramics segment were ₹349 Crores, a growth of 16.5% over Q1 FY26. Standalone sales in this segment increased by 15.2% to ₹274 Crores. Consolidated profit before finance cost and tax remained stable at ₹74 Crores, while standalone PBIT was ₹59 Crores.
