Titagarh Rail Systems First Ahmedabad Metro Trainset Rolls Out

Titagarh Rail Systems has rolled out its first driverless, Made in India trainset for the Ahmedabad Metro. Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, visited Titagarh’s Kolkata plant to receive the train. The trainset, manufactured with over 70-75% local content, operates on the Yellow Line and incorporates a Garba-inspired interior, celebrating Ahmedabad’s cultural heritage.

Ahmedabad Metro Trainset Unveiled

Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd. has announced the rollout of its first driverless, Made in India trainset for the Ahmedabad Metro. The event was graced by Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, who visited Titagarh’s plant in Kolkata to receive the train. This marks a significant milestone in India’s urban mobility infrastructure.

Key Highlights

The trainset has been manufactured with stainless steel car bodies, offering a lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant solution. This significantly improves energy efficiency and sustainability. It has over 70-75% local content by value.

Route and Features

The metro services will operate on the Yellow Line corridor from Narendra Modi stadium to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, spanning 23.8 km. There is also a Violet Line branch, covering an additional 5.4 km. In total, the metro network will run across a 28.26 km elevated corridor connecting 22 stations.

The trains are equipped with the latest Train Control and Management System enabling driverless train operations. Designed with passenger comfort, safety, and ergonomics at the forefront, the trainsets include modern amenities and dedicated spaces for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). The interiors are thoughtfully styled with a Garba-inspired theme, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit of Ahmedabad.
