NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, has announced the commencement of commercial operations for a 37.925 MW capacity at the Khavda Solar Energy Project in Gujarat. This is part of a larger 300 MW project under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project. Following this addition, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group now stands at 85,541 MW.
Khavda Solar Project Update
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has announced that a portion of its Khavda Solar Energy Project has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) on December 18, 2025. The operational capacity declared is 37.925 MW, representing the fifth part of the larger 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which falls under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project in Gujarat.
Impact on Total Capacity
With this operational commencement, the aggregate installed and commercial capacity of NTPC Group has now reached 85,541 MW. The Khavda Solar project plays a crucial role in NTPC’s expansion in the renewable energy sector, helping to increase overall capacity. This demonstrates NTPC’s commitment to increasing its green energy portfolio.
NGEL Group Capacity Expansion
Prior to this addition, the commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited Group stood at 7,889.335 MW. After integrating the 37.925 MW from the Khavda Solar Energy Project, the total installed capacity of the NGEL Group will increase to 7,927.26 MW.
