Amitabh Kant (DIN: 00222708) has been appointed as a Director and Independent Director of ITC Limited for a term of five years. His appointment is effective from January 1, 2026. Mr. Kant brings vast experience in governance reform and public policy.
Director Re-appointment
Hemant Malik (DIN: 06435812) has been re-appointed as a Director, liable to retire by rotation, and as a Wholetime Director. The re-appointment is for a period of two years, beginning on August 12, 2026. Mr. Malik currently serves as the Divisional Chief Executive of the Foods Business Division of the Company.
Amitabh Kant: Background
Mr. Kant, aged 69, is a retired IAS Officer. He served as the G20 Sherpa to the Prime Minister of India during India’s Presidency in 2022-23. Previously, he was the CEO of NITI Aayog and held key positions in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, and the Ministry of Tourism.
Hemant Malik: ITC Experience
Mr. Malik, aged 59, currently serves as the Divisional Chief Executive of the Foods Business Division. He has been with ITC since June 1989, accumulating over 35 years of experience across businesses like Tobacco & Foods, and the Trade Marketing & Distribution Vertical.
Before his current role, Mr. Malik was the Chief Executive of the TM&D Vertical from April 2016. He also headed the All India Tobacco Sales function in 2001 and played a crucial role in launching ITC’s food brands in 2002.
