The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony marked the start of construction for the 400+ bed facility. The hospital aims to provide advanced medical care to the region. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 500 crores.
Guwahati Hospital Construction Begins
Global Health Limited (“Medanta”) has commenced construction of its new super-specialty hospital in Guwahati. The Bhoomi Poojan ceremony signifies a major step in bringing world-class healthcare to the Northeast states. The event took place on October 31, 2025.
Project Details
The new hospital will be a 400+ bed super-specialty facility located at Industrial Estate, Sarusajai, Guwahati, along National Highway 27. The approximate cost of the project is Rs 500 crores. The facility will offer a range of medical specialties.

The hospital will feature a comprehensive range of super-specialties, including:

- Thoracic Surgery
- Peripheral Vascular Surgery
- Paediatric Cardiology and Paediatric Cardiac Surgery

- Respiratory Medicine and Intervention Pulmonology

It will also include all Diagnostic Services, including Labs, Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine, as well as Preventive Health Check-ups.

Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, stated that North East India has been underserved regarding healthcare services and that this new facility aims to meet the rising demand for advanced, accessible care. He added that the hospital will serve not only the people of Guwahati but also benefit the entire North East region.
Employment Opportunities
The project is expected to generate between 5,000 and 7,000 direct and indirect jobs.
