Adani Ports Acquires NQXT Australia, Boosts Cargo Volume Target

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has finalized its 100% acquisition of North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT) in Australia. On a proforma basis, FY26 EBITDA guidance is now projected at ₹22,350-23,350Cr, with cargo volume targeted at 545-555 MMT. The acquisition is expected to help APSEZ achieve its goal of handling 1 Billion tonnes of cargo volume by 2030 and adds a cash-generating asset to its international portfolio.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) announced the successful completion of its acquisition of a 100% interest in North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT) in Australia. The finalization follows the fulfillment of all condition precedents. As part of the transaction, APSEZ has allotted 14,38,20,153 equity shares to the seller, Carmichael Rail and Port Singapore Holdings Pte Ltd.

Strategic Rationale

The acquisition is a key element in APSEZ’s strategy to reach 1 billion metric tonnes of cargo volume by 2030. NQXT is viewed as a high-growth, cash-generating asset that will strengthen APSEZ’s presence along the East-West trade corridor, complementing its other international ports. Financial Impact

The integration of NQXT is expected to positively impact APSEZ’s financial outlook. On a proforma basis, the company provides FY26 EBITDA guidance of ₹22,350-23,350Cr. NQXT Overview

NQXT is a multi-user export terminal with a capacity of 50 million tonnes per annum. Located in the Port of Abbot Point, North Queensland, it supports mining customers in the Bowen and Galilee basins. During FY25, NQXT had a contracted capacity of 40 million tonnes and delivered A$ 228mn EBITDA. The terminal has a remaining lease extending to the year 2110.
