Ambuja Cement First Indian Company to Adopt TNFD for Sustainable Growth

Adani Cement, comprising Ambuja Cements and its subsidiaries, has become the first Indian cement company to adopt the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations. This commitment involves identifying, assessing, managing, and disclosing nature-related risks and opportunities. Formal TNFD-aligned disclosures will commence from FY26. Adani Cement aims for 30% AFR use and 60% green power share by FY28.

Adani Cement, including Ambuja Cements, has become the first in the Indian cement industry to adopt the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) recommendations. This signals a commitment to nature-positive business transformation and sustainability leadership. The company joins a select group of global industry leaders championing these practices.

Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

The adoption of TNFD recommendations underscores Adani Cement’s dedication to identifying, assessing, and managing nature-related risks. Formal disclosures aligned with TNFD will begin in FY26, highlighting the company’s focus on biodiversity and environmental responsibility.

Key Sustainability Initiatives

The company aims for 30% Alternative Fuel Rate (AFR) use and a 60% share of green power by FY28. This is directly advancing TNFD principles for resource management and biodiversity protection. Adani Cement has already planted over 7 million trees and achieved 12x water positivity.

Driving Decarbonization

Adani Cement has invested in decarbonization technologies including the first commercial deployment of Coolbrook’s RotoDynamic Heater™ (RDH™). The company is among the four large-scale cement companies globally to have SBTi-validated net-zero targets.

Broader ESG Goals

The TNFD adoption complements Adani Cement’s existing climate risk assessment and disclosure practices. This step builds on the Company’s existing climate risk assessment and disclosure practices, which are aligned with globally recognised frameworks.
